Free Halloween Social Stories

If you celebrate Halloween, a social story can be a great way to help your child know what to expect for the holiday. These short, simple stories (often accompanied by pictures and other visual supports) can communicate to children what will be happening and what behaviors they may be expected to do in those situations. Here are a few free ones that you can use.

This social story is about handing out candy to kids trick-or-treating while at home. It's available in two formats:

This one is a story about going trick-or-treating.

Once you've read a story about going trick-or-treating, you can use these pictures for a sequencing activity of the "steps" for trick-or-treating.

Trick-or-treating social story with tips and routines that adults can use to make trick-or-treating go smoothly.

This one includes a communication bracelet.

If none of these stories are a good fit for your child, there are a bunch more free ones on TeachersPayTeachers. If you know of another great story, please feel free to leave it as a comment on the blog or my social media pages. Thanks!
